The Magic of Giving

I'm 36 yrs. old father of 2 kids a boy and a girl ages 5 and 7 and just recently lost my job do to the slow economy, I'm trying to find a new job but it's hard to find one because all the places I applied to is either not hiring or there letting go employees themselves, thankfully I have great support from friends and family that help me out through this tough time, I can't even think about Christmas right now but the kids want this and they what that and it's hard enough to tell them that daddy can't afford that now, My 7 year old wants a computer of her own to help her with school work and my son wants a Wii and a computer but those things are to expensive for me to buy right now especially without a job, I'm barely making rent every month but without my mom and dad and friends that helped me alot with food, rent, gas and cloths for the kids I know me and my wife wouldn't never made it, if it wasn't for the support, The Hp Magic will bring joyous to are family it will be saving me seeing a big disappointment on my kids face they didn't see what they wish for under the tree, but what can I do I think failed as father because I couldn't provide for my family which is so depended on me but I'm trying my hardest to make this Christmas a special one and with HP help i can put a smile on my kids face when they wake up that christmas morning thanks to everyone for having this contest and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year and good luck to everyone who's entering this contest. and also I will love to give the portion of the prize to my friends and family members that helped me out when I needed it.

What line of work are you in? It is so hard to look at your kids and know they have dreams you can not fulfill. Luckily mine are teenagers, so when I look them in the eyes and say "christmas is going to be SMALLER this year. MUCH smaller", they may not like it, but they understand better than small folks. What sorts of games/toys are your kids into?

I wish you peace and joy during this difficult struggle in your life. My husband was laid off right before 9/11 and it was a very difficult time for us. I struggled as I watched his strong desire to provide for our family go unmet. I also grew to love him more through his dedication, love, and loyalty to our family in spite of such a difficult struggle. I know your kids will benefit from your determination to do whatever it takes to provide a happy and healthy life for them. That is evidenced by your creativity in finding Christmas gifts for them.

Good luck and happy holidays. I wish you well in finding a job. I wish your family unity and love during this challenging time.

Sincerely,

jyl

Wow - yes the economy is rough. It has hurt our retirement income too. However, I don't have small children. Best of luck to you.

I have to say I know how you feel. I think back on the Christmases I had with my boys when there was nothing to put under the tree. It broke my heart. One Christmas we gave each other coupons for things; like "good for one hug," "good for one read aloud story," that sort of thing. It was one of the best Christmases we had.
There isn't much to make a parent feel worse than to feel they aren't a good parent because he and/or she can't provide.
Hang in there. I wish for you a very prosperous New Year, full of hope with a new job.
Good luck to you!!

Even in unemployment, you are the dad your kids need. Don't forget it, whether you win this or not, whether you find a job right away or not. Thank you for sharing from your heart, and for putting your kids first!
